Privacy Policy for ReferenceFrame

Summary: ReferenceFrame collects zero data. Your designs and settings stay on your device. The iOS app works entirely offline; the web version loads a few standard libraries from public servers (details below).

Overview

ReferenceFrame is a picture framing calculator available as an iOS app and as a web app. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information on both.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data.

ReferenceFrame:

Does not collect personal information
Does not collect usage analytics
Does not track your location
Does not use cookies or tracking technologies
Does not share any data with third parties
Does not require an account or registration
Does not send your designs or settings anywhere

Network Connections

iOS app: does not connect to any external servers.

Web app: is hosted on GitHub Pages, and loads fonts and code libraries (for icons and PDF export) from Google Fonts, cdnjs (Cloudflare), and unpkg. As with any website, these providers receive standard request information such as your IP address and browser type when your browser downloads these files; their own privacy policies apply. None of your designs, measurements, or settings are included in these requests.

If you use the web app's "Share" feature, the design is encoded in the link itself; it is only shared with whomever you choose to send the link to.

Local Storage

ReferenceFrame stores your preferences, saved configurations, design history, and any artwork images you add locally on your device only (in the app's storage on iOS, or your browser's local storage for the web app). This data:

Never leaves your device
Is not accessible to us or any third party
Can be deleted by uninstalling the app, or by clearing this site's data in your browser

Artwork Images

If you choose an image of your artwork for the preview (iOS app), you pick it with the system photo picker, which shares only the image you select. The app keeps a downscaled copy in its own storage on your device, with the design you used it for. Images are never uploaded or sent anywhere; they leave your device only in files you choose to share yourself (an exported PDF, a preview image, or a backup).

Permissions

ReferenceFrame does not require any device permissions. The preview uses the system photo picker, PDF export uses the system print dialog, and sharing uses the system share sheet.

Children's Privacy

ReferenceFrame does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date.
